Little Noticed Amendment To Highway Bill Causing Insurers Headaches
Friday, June 10th, 2005 AutoA special interest amendment that has become a major highway bill is causing major headaches for auto insurers throughout the nation. The amendment, H.R. 3, which was slipped into the legislation by Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo would, in effect, eliminate rental car company liability under state owner’s liability law, and would shift that liability to the auto insurance companies of person renting the vehicle.
