A Cumberland County solicitor has been arrested for conducting a fraudulent roofing scam that resulted in nearly $20,000 in damage. The arrest was made by Lower Allen Township Police on June 20. The suspect, a solicitor for The Exterior Company (TEC), is accused of misleading a homeowner about storm damage to their roof, promising that insurance would cover all repair costs.

The incident began on September 11, 2023, when police responded to reports of criminal mischief at a residence on Allendale Way. The homeowner reported that the solicitor had assessed his roof, claiming extensive storm damage, and presented photos as evidence. However, an evaluation by the homeowner’s insurance company on August 11 revealed that only 10% of the shingles were damaged and not due to storms. Instead, the shingles appeared to have been intentionally damaged.

The estimated cost of the repairs was $17,843. Following an investigation, the solicitor was arrested on charges of insurance fraud and criminal mischief.
