Man In ‘Severe’ Condition After Hay-Machine Injury

A man is in “severe” condition after he was injured early Tuesday by a hay machine that mistook him for a bale of hay at a processing plant near Turlock, the Merced Sheriff’s Department said. The industrial accident occurred in Delhi when a 43-year-old man working there activated the hay compressor as he crossed in front of the electric sensor, deputies said. The machine mistook him for a hay bale, pinching his stomach and back.
