Manhole explosions downtown Saturday keep streets blocked through Sunday morning

Indianapolis Power and Light crews continued working Sunday morning on Delaware Street. The street remained closed to traffic from Maryland Street to Market Street Sunday morning. Indianapolis Fire and Metro Police responded to a car fire on Delaware Street at about 9:30 Saturday night. Fire investigators believe that car was parked over a manhole and the cover blew off the manhole starting the fire. Another manhole cover flew off and hit an emergency response vehicle, causing minor damage.
