A Massachusetts man managing a Boston dental clinic has been indicted for practicing dentistry without a license and defrauding the state’s Medicaid program, MassHealth, of approximately $245,000. The individual and Forest Hills Dental, the clinic he manages, face multiple charges, including Medicaid false claims and larceny over $1,200. The charges stem from billing MassHealth for procedures that were never performed and for dental services conducted by the unlicensed manager.
Prosecutors allege that Forest Hills Dental billed MassHealth for extractions, root canals, and fillings that were not provided, as evidenced by follow-up dental examinations and x-rays. The clinic also billed for services that the unlicensed manager performed, which legally required a licensed dentist. One instance involved an improper extraction that necessitated extensive follow-up care for a patient.
The fraud reportedly occurred between January 2018 and March 2023. The manager is scheduled to attend a court hearing on June 13.
