New Jersey Man Admits to Staged Accident Scams

A New Jersey resident pleaded guilty to orchestrating two auto accident staging scams in 2010 that resulted in insurance payouts of $179,210 for medical treatment and personal injury settlement proceeds, according to officials.
New Jersey’s Acting Attorney General John Hoffman and the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor announced Monday that Olivares R. Liberato-Cohen of Passaic, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree conspiracy to commit theft by deception. The state will recommend a five-year state prison term at his sentencing hearing, scheduled for February 2015.
