A tornado destroyed a small trailer court, uprooted trees and damaged homes and businesses here, including a nursing home and grain elevator, officials and witnesses said. One man was killed and at least 17 people were injured.
"This town is a mess. This town is a disaster," said Kevin Dean, a spokesman for an emergency operations center that responders set up in the city fire hall. "There's virtually nothing ... that hasn't been damaged."
