Oil Tank Explosion Injures Two Critically

Four people were injured after an oil tank explosion near the small town of Norris City, IL, east of Rend Lake. The White County Sheriff’s Department said workers were wielding on a tank next to a truck when the tank exploded in a field which led to a large fire. Two people were critically burned and were flown by LifeFlight to a special burn unit in Louisville, KY. Two people were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The fire is now out. Firefighters from multiple local departments battled the blaze. Norris City is east of the town of Benton, IL which is near I-57 and IL Rt. 14, and southeast of Mount Vernon.
