One woman was killed and several people, including three firefighters, were injured in a seven-alarm fire at a Downtown Pittsburgh high-rise that created a mess for Monday morning’s rush-hour commuters heading into the city. Emergency crews were called to the 18-story Midtown Towers in the 600 block of Liberty Avenue around 3 a.m., according to Pittsburgh emergency officials. The blaze, which heavily damaged the sixth and seventh floors of the high-rise — known as the T.J. Keenan Building — was mostly extinguished by dawn, although the fire had jumped to floors 7 through 10 and hotspots were still burning as of 8 a.m., city fire officials said.
