Outsourcing Trend Spares Adjusters

Friday, October 15th, 1999 Auto Property

Although both the number of carriers outsourcing function and the number and type of functions they outsource are increasing, this trend will have little affect on the jobs of claims adjusters, according to John L. Ward, chairman of Ward Financial Group, an insurer management consulting and investment banking firm in Cincinnati. "There's a bit of a trend in the claims area toward outsourcing, but it's largely a result of companies looking to elevate their service, rather than a particular trend toward outsourcing a part of the claims operation," Ward said. "The after-hours service, the glass vendors, these are all enhancements to the service package that have resulted because of greater expectations on the part of customers and the availability of some good options among the outsourcing vendors. "I would not view it as a trend that should make claims professionals concerned about their jobs," he added.
