Over 1 Million Honda Vehicles Recalled for Rearview Camera Issue
Friday, June 23rd, 2023 AutoHonda has announced a recall of 1.2 million vehicles in the United States due to a rearview camera problem that could impact driver visibility.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that the absence of a rearview camera image may pose a risk of collision and impair the driver’s ability to see obstacles behind the vehicle. However, there have been no reported injuries related to this issue thus far.
The recall encompasses various Honda models, including Odyssey minivans manufactured between 2018 and 2023, Pilot SUVs from 2019 to 2022, and Passport SUVs produced from 2019 to 2023. The root cause of the problem has been identified as a faulty coaxial cable connector, as stated by the NHTSA.
According to reports, Honda has received approximately 274,000 warranty claims from May 2017 to June 8, highlighting the scope of the issue. To address this concern, authorized Honda dealers will replace the cable harness and install a straightening cover to rectify the rearview camera problem. Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters starting July 24, informing them about the recall and the necessary steps for resolution.
It is crucial for Honda owners who receive the notification to respond promptly and bring their vehicles to authorized dealers for the required repairs, thus mitigating potential visibility issues and reducing the risk of accidents.
