Popular Kansas City Restaurant Destroyed By Fire
Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 PropertyKansas City area barbecue lovers lost the Gates Bar-B-Q restaurant in Independence early Tuesday morning after a fast-moving fire.Firefighters say the blaze broke out in the kitchen of the restaurant at 10440 East 40 Hwy. about 1 a.m. before spreading to the roof and engulfing the building. A cook inside at the time was able to make it out safely. The building is total loss. Crews took on frigid temperatures and had difficulty accessing adequate water supply while battling the blaze.
