Wednesday, April 15th, 2015 Property

A brush fire that had been intentionally set for land management purposes ended up causing heat damage to 11 homes in Crystal Lake, the fire department said. The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department initially reported that eight residences along Wheatland Drive sustained melted siding from the fire, but that number was later revised to 11. Fire officials said the prescribed burn was done for land management purposes and that the damage was caused by radiant heat from the nearby fire.
