Siouxland farmers gauge whether to replant in flood-damaged fields

As the Rock River rose, so did the amount of work for Jack Kruse. “We have weeks of fixing fence ahead of us, as dozens of poles were pulled out by the force of the water," said Kruse, of George, Iowa, in Lyon County. Kruse is one of countless farmers who spent last week calculating damage from the massive flooding from the Big Sioux, Rock and other rivers.
An unusually wet weather pattern earlier this month reversed what had been a mostly dry period, sending heavy rains into fields.
