Flames that started in a south city grocery store spread to two other buildings and destroyed the shop in an early Thursday morning blaze. The 3-alarm fire broke out in Afghan Market, a Middle-Eastern grocery store, near the intersection of Grand and Chippewa around 12:30 a.m. Fire officials believe it began in the back of the market, which is a total loss. No injuries were reported, but authorities said the back half of the store collapsed while several firefighters were inside.
