Southern US Close Schools And Keep Off Roads As Winter Storm Hits

A menacing winter storm barreled across the southeastern U.S. on Wednesday, dumping a half foot of snow, sleet and freezing rain on a territory ranging from Texas up through southern Virginia. Parts of northern Alabama have seen more than 10 inches of heavy, wet snow, causing tree damage and power outages.
