Sub-Freezing Temperatures An Additional Challenge To Missouri Firefighters

Thursday, December 15th, 2016 Property

Fire Department personnel responded to a fire call — possibly from an occupant, but that is a mystery for the moment — at 416 N. Main St. at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday. “It was called in — a second story on fire,” Assistant Fire Chief Doyle Oxley said, while securing the scene about 6:50 a.m. Someone occupied the house when the fire started, Oxley said. “Dispatch said there was a call from people on the first floor, and said that the upstairs was on fire, and we have yet to find them,” he said. “There was no one at home when we got here.” A young dog died in the fire, Oxley said. Firefighters fought flames and freezing temperatures of about 15 degrees.
