Only one person was injured in a multiple-car pile-up on I-66 this afternoon. Virginia State Police say it all began about 5:50 p.m. when two cars collided in the eastbound lanes near Exit 60, Rt. 123. As traffic swerved to avoid those vehicles, a chain-reaction crash occurred. In the end, there were 12 more vehicles involved. The last two caught fire. Of both crashes (2-vehicle and then chain reaction 12-vehicle) there was only one minor injury and that driver was treated at the scene. All eastbound lanes were closed as first responders cleared the crash, further snarling an afternoon commute that got off to a bad start as a tractor trailer truck crashed on I-95 near South Van Dorn Street, closing lanes in both directions until late afternoon.
