Terrorist Attacks May Change The Face of Insurance Forever

Wednesday, September 12th, 2001 Catastrophe Life & Health

When terrorists strike, the damage goes beyond the immediate wreckage. As people start assessing the damage, they are left with many questions about the loss of their loved ones and the destruction of their property. The tragedy will send shockwaves through the entire insurance industry. Life insurers will promptly process beneficiaries‘ claims, says Joe Annotti, spokesperson for the National Association of Independent Insurers (NAII). Life insurance policies do not carry exclusions for acts of terrorism or acts of war. "We‘ve made promises and we‘re going to be keeping those promises," says Jack Dolan, spokesperson for the American Council of Life Insurers.
