How did this happen? Well, I doubt this was some reckless action taken against mankind. But it requires us, experienced insurance industry influencers, to take responsible action. It all started with the energy crisis in 1970 and the emergence of airtight buildings and energy efficiencies. Responsible contractors sealed their homes and commercial buildings and sold energy efficiency and environmental responsibility along with the property. Residential construction building codes did not design guidelines to support this social consciousness so some efforts were better than others and none were consistent.
