Georgia adjusters are beginning to make a dent in the property devastation left by a string of fierce tornadoes that raked across the southwest portion of the state last month, killing 22 and causing up to $25 million in insured losses, according to the Insurance Information Institute.
A large severe weather system that spawned several tornadoes spread damage from Arkansas to the Carolinas on the afternoon of Feb. 13 and the early morning hours of Feb. 14, with the heaviest damage concentrated in the town of Camilla, Ga. Damage found in and around the town of 5,000 was reportedly heavy and affected mostly mobile homes, single-family residences, apartment complexes and motor vehicles. Many of the destroyed houses were completely stripped to their foundations, and mobile homes were tossed about.
