Typhoon Neoguri Hits Japan’s Okinawa With High Winds, Huge Waves

Typhoon Neoguri battered Japan’s Okinawa islands with sustained winds of 120 mph Tuesday, paralyzing transport and forcing the U.S. military to move 61 aircraft from Kadena Air Base. More than 86,000 households were without power, broadcaster NHK reported as the "once in a decade" storm generated waves up to 46 feet high. At least eight people were injured, including an 83-year-old woman who climbed a ladder to check her roof and fell, hitting her head.
