Union Pacific crews are working in northeast Kansas to clean up a derailment of a coal train. No injuries were reported when 56 cars of the train derailed early Monday near Emmett in Pottawatomie County. Kansas First News reports that crews were working Monday to clear the accident and repair the tracks. Railroad spokesman Mark Davis says a cause of the accident has not been determined. It’s unclear when the tracks will reopen. Emmett is about 20 miles west and 30 miles north of Topeka.
