Unsafe Lane Change Results In Four-Vehicle Crash

Two people were injured in a four-vehicle crash Wednesday involving a tractor trailer on I-95 southbound. The crash occurred around 8:09 a.m. near exit 4B, the Churchman Crossing exit. An investigation revealed Gerald Nichols, 24, of Wilmington was attempting to make a left-hand lane change into the right, center lane when he stuck the side of a vehicle driven by Shawn R. Johns, 51, of Wilmington. Police said Johns was forced to travel into the center lane where he struck the fuel valves of a tractor trailer, driven by Turon McManus, 30, of Wilmington.
