Utility worker narrowly avoids losing his hand

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 Workers' Compensation

Just two and a half weeks after utility worker Charles Keith severely cut his arm working, he is, amazingly, recovering. "Everyone with a hand injury works and all those hands mean livelihoods," said Keith’s doctor, Pranay Parikh. It was Keith’s livelihood that brought him to Western Mass. His utility crew made the trip from North Carolina, joining the thousands of other utility workers in the area. But just two days into the job, the unthinkable happened - Charles nearly lost his hand when he dropped the chainsaw he was working with.
