Worker Killed In Industrial Accident At Malting Plant

Police in Shakopee say a man was killed in a workplace accident late Monday night at Rahr Malting Company. The incident happened at roughly 9:15 p.m. at the plant, located just off 1st Avenue in Shakopee. Police say an employee of the malting company was working in an area of the plant and fell into a machine. Another worker called 911 immediately. Crews from the Shakopee Fire Department arrived on the scene minutes later and pulled the man out. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have yet to disclose the kind of machine that the employee fell into or whether he was wearing some sort of safety harness.
