Worker rescued after being trapped by machine

Monday, October 1st, 2012 Workers' Compensation

A worker was trapped in a trench, pinned by a small Bobcat machine at the old VW auto dealership on Thursday. Workers were filling a trench for sewer pipes on the property, which is now owned by Harvard University. The Bobcat somehow tipped over and the 49-year-old man was wedged between the machinery and a pipe. “What saved him was a pipe right back where the machine was, you know the machine was resting up against his stomach,” said Deputy Chief Jerry Hogan of the Boston Fire Department.
