Wrong-Way Collision On Interstate Kills Both Drivers
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 Auto LiabilityA crash that killed two people and injured others on Interstate 85 near East Club Boulevard in Durham Monday morning was caused by a wrong-way driver. The incident happened at about 12:15 a.m., according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. According to officers with the Durham Police Department, Aretha Lynette Chavis, 49, of Durham, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata in the wrong direction on I-85 north when she struck a 2017 Ford Expedition driven by Jerry Alamo, 29, of Rhode Island. Both Alamo and Chavis were killed in the crash.
