Weekend Rain to Bring Rising River Levels...
A strong storm system will move from the central Plains into the
Great Lakes region this weekend. Several rounds of rain can be
expected with amounts reaching three-quarters of an inch to one and
one-quarter inches. This amount of precipitation falling on already
saturated grounds, will lead to runoff into area rivers and streams.
Portions of the Wolf and Oconto Rivers are already at bankfull or
minor flood stage. Portions of the Wisconsin, Menominee, Embarrass
and Peshtigo Rivers are forecast to rise above bankfull later this
weekend and could also reach minor flood stage.
In addition to rising water levels, ponding on area roads, urban
areas and low-lying areas may also occur.
Residents who live near rivers or streams should closely monitor
water levels in upcoming days and be prepared to seek higher ground
if flooding becoming imminent.
