FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates,
Hertford, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck. Portions
of Virginia, including the following areas, Chesapeake,
Gloucester, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews,
Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Northampton, Southampton,
Suffolk, Surry, Virginia Beach and York.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Periods of heavy rain are expected through this afternoon as
Tropical Storm Ophelia moves towards the area. Storm total
rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are expected with locally
higher amounts.
