INCREASED FIRE DANGER IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING... A very dry air mass will remain in place over the region today. Critical relative humidity values in the teens and lower 20s will develop or persist from late this morning through early this evening. The low relative humidity, lack of recent rainfall, and dry brush and fuels, are enhancing the potential for wildfires to develop and spread quickly in western North Carolina. Most locations remain under a burn ban due to the drought conditions.
