Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EST THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
counties, Fairfield and New Haven and southeast New York,
including the following counties, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and
Westchester.
* WHEN...Until 800 AM EST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 614 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have
fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, Danbury,
Milford, Shelton, New City, Naugatuck, Newburgh, Ossining,
Peekskill, Southbury, New Canaan, Wolcott, Haverstraw, Mount
Kisco, Mahopac and Monroe.
