A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW WILL AFFECT PARTS OF SULLIVAN...DELAWARE... SOUTHERN WAYNE...WYOMING...SUSQUEHANNA...NORTHERN WAYNE...BRADFORD... LUZERNE...LACKAWANNA...AND PIKE COUNTIES... HAZARDS...A band of heavy snow which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. This band of heavy snow is producing very heavy snow at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 859 PM EST, a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from Florida to near Greeley to Moscow to near Muhlenberg and moving northeast at 55 MPH. LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Falls, Hazleton, Muhlenberg, Dunmore, Kingston, Nanticoke, Plains, and Carbondale. This includes the following highway exits... Interstate 86/Route 17 between 102 and 106. Interstate 80 between 256 and 273. Pennsylvania Interstate 81 between 143 and 230. Interstate 84 between 1 and 53. Interstate 380 between 20 and 24. Interstate 476 between 105 and 131. SAFETY INFO... Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band of heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads.
