SLIPPERY TRAVEL FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE...
Light freezing drizzle or light snow has created slippery travel
across much of the region this morning. A large area of light snow
south of Highway 8 will move into far northern Wisconsin shortly
before or around sunrise. Across the far north, freezing drizzle
has been reported. Light snow accumulations on top of a thin layer
of ice could lead to treacherous conditions for the morning
commute, especially over central and northern Wisconsin.
The snow should remain generally light in most areas this morning.
The light snow could taper off to drizzle or freezing drizzle later
this morning for a period of time until the heavier snow arrives
this afternoon. The heaviest snow is still expected to occur over
the Fox Valley and lakeshore areas during the mid afternoon into
the early evening, and this will also coincide with the strongest
winds with gust of 30 to 45 mph at times. Storm total snowfall of
1 to 3 inches are expected across north-central Wisconsin, 3 to 7
across central Wisconsin and 5 to 8 inches from Marinette and
Ephraim south through Green Bay and Kewaunee, and 7 to 10 inches
across the lower Fox Valley east to Manitowoc.
Motorists should use caution this morning and plan ahead for
potentially worse conditions this afternoon and evening.
