Heavy rain may fall on a deep primed snowpack leading to the melt
increasing. Flows in rivers may increase quickly and reach critical
levels.
...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...In northwestern Connecticut, Litchfield County, in western
Massachusetts, Berkshire County, in east central New York, Albany,
Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Rensselaer, Schoharie, Southern
Washington, and Ulster counties, and in southern Vermont,
Bennington County.
* WHEN...From this evening through Wednesday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall and snow melt may
result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations. Higher than normal tidal flooding is
expected along the Hudson River and its tributaries from around
Poughkeepsie to Kingston in areas vulnerable to tidal flooding.
