Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 145 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of east central, north central, and northeast
Georgia, including the following counties, in east central
Georgia, Greene. In north central Georgia, Barrow, Dawson,
Forsyth, Gwinnett, Hall, Lumpkin, Morgan, Newton and Walton. In
northeast Georgia, Banks, Clarke, Jackson, Madison, Oconee,
Oglethorpe and White.
* WHEN...Until 145 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect
many areas of slow moving or standing water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1047 AM EST, Local emergency management have reported
heavy rain and localized flooding in the warned area. Between
1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen since early this
morning.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Gainesville, Winder, Monroe, Jefferson, Commerce, Cumming,
Dahlonega, Madison, Cleveland, Watkinsville, Homer,
Danielsville, Athens, Buford, Braselton, Auburn, Flowery
Branch, Dacula, Social Circle and Oakwood.
