Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest North Carolina, including the
following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes and
southwest Virginia, including the following area, Grayson.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks
and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- 1 to 2 inches of rain has fallen since early this morning. In
addition to a large area of moderate rain that will continue
over the area through the afternoon, a narrow band of intense
rainfall will cross the area before 6PM.
