WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS
MORNING TO 4 AM PST THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12
inches in the highest elevations and 4 to 8 inches above 3,000
feet. A dusting up to an inch of snow as low as 2,000 feet by
late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Winds
gusting as high as 65 mph along the Sierra Nevada crest.
* WHERE...The Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Tulare County at
elevations around 3,500 feet on late Wednesday morning through
the early evening. Snow levels lower to 2,500 feet Wednesday
evening, and as low as 2,000 feet during the overnight hours
into Thursday morning.
* WHEN...From 10 AM Wednesday to 4 AM PST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible with
slick and snow-covered roads. Very strong winds could cause
extensive tree damage in some areas, such as near the Sierra
Nevada crest. Cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero are
possible in the highest elevations that could cause frostbite
on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
