* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory this afternoon into Friday,
snow expected, along with blowing snow. Total snow accumulations
mainly between 2 and 4 inches, accompanied by north winds gusting
to around 35 MPH. For the Wind Chill Advisory tonight into Friday
morning, very cold wind chills as low as -15 to -25 expected. For
the Wind Chill Warning for Friday evening through Tuesday morning,
dangerously cold wind chills at least -25 to -40 degrees expected,
especially during the night and morning hours.
* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central and south
central Nebraska, including the Tri Cities.
* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 3 PM this afternoon
to noon CST Friday. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from midnight
tonight to noon CST Friday. For the Wind Chill Warning, from 6 PM
Friday to noon CST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous snowy
conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning
commutes. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite
on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For the Winter Weather Advisory starting this
afternoon, please note that some areas will see the onset of snow
before others. The majority of snow will actually fall this
evening and overnight,then gradually end from west to east Friday
morning. Within any heavier snow bands, near-blizzard conditions
with visibility reduced to around one-half mile are quite possible
at times given the moderately-strong winds blowing around the
relatively dry snow.
