You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
One half to two inches of rain are expected Friday afternoon and
evening. This rain will be falling on ground that was saturated due
to the heavy rainfall this past Tuesday. Flooding of streams and
creeks is possible. The additional rainfall may result in rises on
tributaries of the New, Dan, Yadkin, and Roanoke Rivers.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin and
Virginia, including the following areas, Amherst, Appomattox,
Bedford, Botetourt, Buckingham, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte,
Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Patrick, Pittsylvania,
Roanoke and Rockbridge.
* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through late Friday night.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks
and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Up to 2 inches of rain and a period with intense rainfall
rates may result in flooding of streams and creeks.
Tributaries of main stem rivers may also rise out of their
banks.
