People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST /1 AM
EST/ TONIGHT...
* WHAT...South to southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to
60 mph expected.
* WHERE...All of western Kentucky, southwest Indiana and extreme
southeast Illinois and extreme southeast Missouri.
* WHEN...Through midnight CST /1 AM EST/ Friday night.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The chance for gusts up to 50 mph is
high, and there is potential for gusts to 60 mph or greater.
The effective impact of these high wind gusts cannot be
overstated, especially as they occur over saturated grounds
where trees will be more easily uprooted.
