Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, including the following
areas, Hartford, Tolland and Windham Counties. Massachusetts,
including the following areas, Bristol, Essex, Franklin, Hampden,
Hampshire, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Worcester and Suffolk
Counties. And Rhode Island, including the following areas,
Bristol, Kent, Newport, Providence and Washington Counties, except
for Block Island.
* WHEN...Through Saturday evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may
become clogged with debris.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A widespread additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches of rain is
expected tonight into Saturday. With the ground already
saturated from heavy rainfall and snowmelt earlier this week,
current river and stream flooding may be exacerbated. New
flooding of additional areas is also possible.
