A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE REGION WITH HEAVY SNOW
AND STRONG WINDS THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...
.A strengthening low pressure system will track from the
mid-Mississippi Valley to the central Great Lakes today into
Saturday. The strong system will bring heavy snow and strong winds
to the region. Most of the region should see between 7 to 15 inches
of snow, with the highest amounts across northeast Wisconsin. In
addition, wind gusts could reach around 50 mph in the Fox Valley and
lakeshore areas where blizzard conditions are expected late Friday
afternoon into Saturday morning. Temperatures near freezing could
locally reduce snowfall totals right along the Lake Michigan
shoreline today.

SATURDAY...
* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow and blowing snow
expected. Winds gusting as high 40 mph. For the Blizzard Warning,
blizzard conditions expected. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
Total storm snow accumulation of 10 to 15 inches expected.
* WHERE...Calumet, Manitowoc, Winnebago, Brown, Door, Kewaunee, and
Outagamie Counties.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 6 AM this morning to 3
PM CST this afternoon. For the Blizzard Warning, from 3 PM this
afternoon to noon CST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make
travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could
be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly
reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the
Friday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down
tree branches.
