A FEW INTENSE SNOW SQUALLS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE
EARLY EVENING HOURS...
A strong cold front will approach from the west this afternoon and
move offshore early this evening. This front will be preceded and
accompanied by snow showers and possibly a few intense snow
squalls. The squalls would likely reach the Connecticut River in
western New Hampshire between noon and 2 PM, and continue eastward
reaching the New Hampshire and Maine coast between 3 and 5 PM.
Not everyone will experience a squall. However, everyone should be
be prepared, especially if planning on driving, for brief
whiteout conditions with winds gusting between 35 and 45 MPH.
Since temperatures are expected to rise to around or above the
freezing mark today, squalls could cause a flash freeze in spots
as temperatures drop quickly. A quick 1 to 3 inches of snow is
possible in the heaviest squalls. Be safe and check for later
updates or warnings. You do not want to be out driving, especially
on busy highways when an intense snow squall occurs.
