WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY MORNING ABOVE 500 FEET...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 500 feet. Total snow
accumulations of 4 to 12 inches below 1500 feet, 18 to 30 inches
across the passes, and higher amounts around 3 feet above 5000
feet.
* WHERE...Cascade mountains and valleys of Whatcom and Skagit
Counties, including Maple Falls, the Mount Baker Ski Area, and
Newhalem, Cascade mountains and valleys of Snohomish and King
Counties, including Darrington, Skykomish, Stevens Pass, and
Snoqualmie Pass and Cascade mountains and valleys of Pierce and
Lewis Counties, including the Crystal Mountain Ski Area,
Paradise on Mount Rainier, Ashford, Randle, and Packwood.
* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult in the mountains.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels will begin near sea level, then
rise to 1500 to 2500 feet by Wednesday morning.
