Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

* WHAT...For the first Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures
as low as 30. For the second Freeze Warning, sub-freezing
temperatures as low as 27 expected. For the Freeze Watch, sub-
freezing temperatures as low as 27 possible.
* WHERE...Hidalgo, Starr, Inland Willacy, and Inland Cameron
Counties.
* WHEN...For the first Freeze Warning, until 4 PM CST this
afternoon. For the second Freeze Warning, from 11 PM this
evening to 10 AM CST Tuesday. For the Freeze Watch, from
Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
