snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor
the latest forecasts.
WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING ABOVE 7000 FEET...
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible above 7,000 feet. 3 to 9 inches of
snow for elevations between 7,000 and 9,500 feet in the Eastern
Sierra. 6 to 12 inches of snow for elevations between 7,000 and
9,500 feet in the Spring Mountains and Sheep Range. Locally
higher amounts possible at elevations near or above 9,500 feet.
* WHERE...In California, Eastern Sierra Slopes. In Nevada, Sheep
Range and Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon.
* WHEN...From late Saturday evening through Tuesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will occur in multiple rounds, with a
brief lull during the overnight hours from Sunday into Monday.
Snow levels will start off around 6,000 feet late Saturday
evening and will rise to around 7,000 to 7,500 feet with second
round of snow beginning Monday morning. The bulk of accumulating
snow is expected to fall from Monday morning into Tuesday. Snow
that falls during this time will be heavier/denser in nature.
