HEAVY SNOW ACROSS THE CENTRAL PANHANDLE...
.Snowfall continues across the panhandle. Dry snow will become
wetter through the event with central areas of the panhandle
changing to freezing rain and rain. For northern areas, it is
possible that snow lasts longer into Tuesday morning. Freezing
rain may mix in with snow across parts of the central and northern
panhandle.
...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM AKST TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow and freezing rain. Additional snow
accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with 10 to 16 inches for
Gustavus and Juneau and ice accumulations from freezing rain of
up to two tenths of an inch.
* WHERE...Juneau, Gustavus, Hoonah, Tenakee Springs, and Pelican.
* WHEN...Until 9 AM AKST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Monday morning or evening commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Snow is expected to increase in water
content through Monday and compact on the ground. The greatest
snow totals will be for Juneau. Freezing rain could mix in
beginning Monday morning. Areas with freezing rain could see
substantially less snow accumulation as a result.
