FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central
Mississippi, including the following areas, in central
Mississippi, Attala, Choctaw, Copiah, Hinds, Holmes, Leake,
Madison MS, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Smith and Yazoo. In east
central Mississippi, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba, Newton,
Noxubee and Winston. In north central Mississippi, Carroll,
Grenada, Montgomery and Webster. In northeast Mississippi, Clay,
Lowndes and Oktibbeha. In south central Mississippi, Jefferson
Davis, Lawrence and Lincoln. In southeast Mississippi, Covington.
In southwest Mississippi, Adams, Claiborne, Franklin MS and
Jefferson. In west central Mississippi, Warren.
* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night.
* IMPACTS...Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and
rivers are possible. Localized more impactful flooding could
occur where the heaviest rain falls, including the potential for
road closures.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and thunderstorms with the potential to produce heavy
rainfall rates will move repeatedly across the watch area
from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Much of
this rainfall will run off and result in flash flooding of
low-lying and poor drainage areas. More impactful flooding
could develop where the heaviest rain falls.
