Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don`t drown when
encountering flooded roads. Be especially cautious at night when it
is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Carolina...
Neuse River At Smithfield affecting Johnston County.
Lower Roanoke River At Roanoke Rapids affecting Halifax and
Northampton Counties.
...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING...
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring.
* WHERE...Lower Roanoke River at Roanoke Rapids.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow morning.
* IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. Farmlands and
timberlands adjacent to the river in Roanoke Rapids flood.
Property on the farmlands may be at risk from floodwaters.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:45 AM EST Wednesday the stage was 9.1 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river should fall below flood stage late this
evening to 8.2 feet Thursday morning. It will then fall to
7.7 feet Friday morning and to 5.9 feet Sunday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
